Serengeti and Siringit Rock World Travel Awards

Tanzania has done itself proud again at the World Travel Awards 2023, with the country’s tourist destinations, hotels and tour company winning several accolades.

Serengeti National Park has managed to maintain its crown as the leading National Park in Africa.

This is the fifth year that Serengeti gets to bag this coveted WTA crown.

On the other hand, the Siringit Serengeti Camp, which operates inside the National Park, has also been granted the Africa’s Leading Luxury Tented Safari Camp 2023 title.

With both Serengeti and Siringit raking awards at the WTA 2023, it means this is a double crown for the popular National Park.

Then again comes the Thanda Island which maintains its lead on the continent as Africa’s leading Luxury Island in 2023.

The exclusive heaven on sea is setting the record for winning this title for 14 years in a row and since it happens to be the only one of its kind on the continent, Thanda automatically wins in even the WTA 2024.

Thanda is a private Island located on the Indian Ocean about 28 kilometers off the Tanzanian coastline and mapped within Mafia District.

This is a tropical island featuring only a single luxurious villa. Now Thanda Island is taken on an exclusive basis only.

There is a new award here this year; the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which borders Serengeti has for the first time also appeared in the World Travel Awards, winning the coveted ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction,’ prize. This award was previously held by the Table Mountain of Cape Town, South Africa.

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) also managed to retain its last year’s accolade as the continent’s leading Tourist Board.

Zara Tours, which operates from Moshi, in Kilimanjaro region has also emerged as Africa’s leading tour operator. The firm which is well known for handling mountaineering expeditions also won the title in the 2022 awards.

But while Zanzibar Islands are missing in the 2023 WTA winners list, the Emerald Zanzibar Resort and Spa, has managed to rake in the Africa’s leading New Resort 2023.
