Air France starts New Routes Between Paris and Dar-es-Salaam as Africa Skies Open up for Travel

The new tourism season is slowly but surely picking up in Tanzania and to complement this Air France ia launching new direct routes from Paris to Dar-es-Salaam on the wings of its Airbus A220.

Reports from Paris indicate that the A220 Air France Planer will be flying up to 835 times a day, to 191 destinations in 89 countries from this summer season of 2023.

New routes include flights from Paris to Dar Es Salaam and Ottawa from Paris and from Cayenne to Belem.

In another travel development, Air Zimbabwe issues a request for proposal to dry lease two Boeing B777-200ER for at least two years, as the carrier seeks to resume direct flights between Harare and London.

African Airlines Association said traffic in March 2023 had reached 94.8 percent of the 2019 levels as more international routes and tourism reopens in the post pandemic period.

Domestic flights accounted for 37 percent of the March traffic.

The AFRAA reveals that African airlines are on course to narrow their revenue gap in 2023.

The Nigerian Airline Air Peace received a 165 seater Boeing 737-800 under Wet Lease contract from The Tunisian airline the Syphax Airlines.  The aircraft will be used on domestic and regional operations.

Tunisair has again wet leased two B737-800s, serial 40151 and 40153, from SkyUp since early April 2023. The carrier is also mulling the lease of three A320 Neos for delivery in May and June 2023.

Rwandair is planning to commence the Kigali to Paris and Brussels routing on 27 June 2023, with an airbus A330-300. This route will replace existing Kigali – Brussels nonstop flight.

Kenya Airways and South African Airways are working to launch a new Pan-African airline group in 2024 as part of its strategic partnership to boost growth.

The ongoing restructuring includes fleet rationalisation and talks on a lease agreement with the lessors.

On the other hand, the Ethiopian Airlines is announcing the resumption of its direct flights between Abidjan and New York JFK as of 29 May 2023.
