Award Winning Ghanaian movie star, John Dumelo recently toured Tanzania intending to start shooting a new feature film in the country.

The movie is supposed to be set against the background of the country’s two iconic tourist destinations, the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.

And he agrees that other than just being busy making his latest film, the actor actually enjoys the scenic beauty and wildlife buffet offered by the top Tanzanian travel destinations; Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

“It is my second time in Tanzania, but the country never ceases to amaze me, I certainly must return for an extended tour,” said the Ghanaian Actor who has been featured in nearly 60 films, including ‘A Northern Affair,’ ‘Private Storm,’ and ‘Tales of Nazir!’

Dumelo won the ‘African Most outstanding Actor,’ award at the Afro Australian Movies and Music Awards; as well as ‘Best West African Actor,’ at the 2017 Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou.

He is now taking part in this Tanzanian set film to be known as ‘Mulasi the Death,’ which is expected to premier anytime soon, if it hasn’t already as you read this.

The film is also involving some other local actors, from Tanzania.

‘Mulasi the Death’ is being directed by Honeymoon Aljabri, a Tanzanian Writer, Actor and Award Winning Film Producer ,based in the United States. She revealed that ‘Mulasi’ means ‘Friend’ in the ‘Kigogo’ language of Dodoma.

How ‘Mulasi’ the ‘Friend’ could again turn out to be ‘death’ is something which should remain to be seen when the movie comes out.

It was supposed to premier before the end of 2022 but could see the light of the day in the first quarter of 2013 or beyond.

But for a non-spoiler synopsis, ‘Mulasi the Death’ is a story of four young ladies traveling from central Tanzania (Dodoma), riding to Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, in a trip organized to serve as consolation therapy for their depressed friend.

“The film is themed around the notion of ‘It is Okay not to be Okay!’” said Honeymoon Aljabri.

And Alabri seems to be obsessed with the National Park, because last year, the producer authored the paperback, ‘Amani Wanders in Serengeti,’ a book which would become a favourite read among children.

Ground handling and logistics behind the ‘Mulasi the Death’ film production in Ngorongoro and Serengeti, was undertaken by Mauly Tours.

Mauly Manager, Mozzah Mauly believes the movie will help market Tanzania as the ultimate destination for Africa’s tourism.

Her company was also involved in the travel feature, ‘The Royal Tour,’ starring President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
